Baby Registry Must Haves: A Complete List

When I was pregnant I scoured the internet for no nonsense, highly rated baby products. I wanted things that would hold up well and make life easier. I also preferred a minimalist, neutral style since we didn’t know what we were having AND also because I don’t love color. THERE I SAID IT. Why do baby things have to be plastic and multicolored? This list is not a colorful one my friends.

SLEEPING

  1. Owlet Sock and Monitor. I know the price is steep but this is my #1 baby product. This product = peace of mind which, for a new mom is priceless. Before we purchased it I was obsessively checking on our son when I was supposed to be sleeping. The monitor connects directly to your phone so you can see your little one from anywhere . The sock monitors baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels. If either of these readings dip it will alert you! **Our son spent a few weeks in the NICU and his nurses and doctors told us about this product. They tested it against their own equipment and were really impressed.**

2. The Snuggle Me Organic is another great buy! Similar to the infamous doc-a-tot (which I also love) but easier on the wallet. Our son spent so much time in this cozy little nest after we brought him home! He loved it! It’s incredibly soft and I love that it is 100% organic cotton.

3. Halo Bassinet. Yep it’s as good as everyone says it it. Simple design and perfect while your baby is sharing your room.

4. A breathable mesh crib liner to keep your little one safe while snoozing. This is one of those things I forgot on my registry and frantically bought online one night at 3am!

5. A night light + sound machine combo you can control from your phone! Imagine this: baby is sleeping peacefully upstairs and you have a few minutes to yourself. The doorbell rings and and your house fills with excited guests. Simply turn up the white noise in your baby’s room right from your phone and drown out any unwanted noise!

OUT AND ABOUT

6. City Go Jogger and Travel set. This is a really nice stroller AND car seat set. The car seat is easy to use and even has a travel mechanism so it can be secured to the seat without a base. The stroller rides really smooth and the seat locks right on top (where the cover is in the picture below) so the baby is facing you. Once they grow out of the infant seat they can sit forward facing in the stroller.

Make sure to register for a toddler car seat too if you go with this set! The infant car seat is for 4-35lbs max.

7. The Solly Baby Wrap was my favorite option for baby wearing. I love the patterns and colors and my little one loved being so close. Some of my favorite new mom memories involve baby wearing! It’s just so sweet!

I have not personally tried this one but I have heard really good things about it recently from lots of other moms! It might be worth looking into!

FEEDING

8. Joovy High Chair. Simple and easy to clean. The food tray pops off easily and the locking mechanism only requires one hand. This may seem silly now but these are the things that will soon be important! We will literally just take it outside and hose it down when things get messy – and they will get messy! We also have the joovy walker and really liked that too!

This is the basic model that we have!

This is The fancier upgrade – also has great reviews!

9. Como Tomo Bottles. I LOVED these bottles and so did my son! We tried so many but these were hands down my favorite. They are made from medical grade silicone and designed to be mimic breastfeeding. They can also go in the top rack of your dishwasher when its time to clean!!

10. Silicone baby bibs are just one more way to make your life easier! They have built in food-catcher pockets so less food ends up in the chair and once they are finished just rinse or wipe them clean! No more cloth bibs to add to your endless laundry! They also come in lots of really great non offensive colors which makes my neutral loving heart flutter.

11. When it came time to start transitioning to solid food I was really curious about baby led weaning. After reading this book I decided to take the plunge! It really helped me get comfortable with the idea of my little guy feeding himself solid foods early on! BUT if this isn’t for you there are lots of great baby food brands out there now and even cool gadgets to make them yourself!

HANGING AT HOME

12. The Bumbo! Im crazy about this thing! Once your baby starts getting a little more alert and can support their head this is the perfect place to put them while you cook or get some work done. It will help them gain some strength and learn to sit upright too. There is also a tray attachment sold separately for snack and toys to keep them busy!

13. The Mamaroo. Another recommendation from the NICU. They had 4 of these things in the hospital and they. are. amazing. It will replace BOTH a bouncer and a swing and has 5 motions and speeds! Get yourself one – You will be happy you did!

CHANGING

14. Diapers. We hit the diaper jackpot at Lidl. Every year their boxes of diapers go on sale for half price and we bought a years worth of diapers for $179. If you have a lidl near you this usually happens Mid-March – Get there! Since then this is all we have used and rarely have any leaks, even overnight – and ladies and gentlemen we have a pee-er!!

15. Water Wipes are 99.9% water and a drop of fruit extract. Making them the cleanest wipes on the market (ingredient wise!)

16. Keekaroo baby changing pad. This pad requires NO cover which again means less laundry and if there is an accident just wipe clean. Drama free!

17. Burt’s Bees Baby diaper cream is the very best one I have found and 100% natural! You only need a little bit so it lasts forever! These guys just make great stuff. Period.

18. The Diaper Genie! Not my favorite purchase, but necessary. I wish it held more diapers but its honestly the best one I have found so far!

ClEANING/BATHING

19. Burts Bees is my favorite baby brand without question. All of our soap, towels, wash cloths and most clothing are Burt’s Bees Baby. This soap can be used all over the body and in the hair. It smells exactly like it should- clean and fresh! It’s tear free and 98.9 % natural too! After the first month I bought this is bulk and even stocked my moms house with it.

20. Charlie’s Soap and Pre-Spray. I washed all of my sons clothes and linens in Charlie’s soap. Its fragrance free, hypo allergenic and non-toxic. The pre-spray works wonders on all stains baby or not!

This was a round up of Must Have Items for your baby registry!
